Bingo Advert in Hot Water

February 28th, 2008

At a recent viewing of advertisements by the UK Advertising Standards Authority, where fifty-six ads were viewed and six were found to be in contravention of the code, one of the advertisements that contravened the code was from a bingo operator. At this point in time it is unclear as to whether the bingo operator was land-based or online, as no names have been released by the ASA.

Bingo Promotions Step Up The Pace

February 2nd, 2008

With more online bingo operators coming on board weekly, competition is hotting up to see which bingo sites are going to be offering the best online promotions and Gala Bingo, being one of the leading online bingo operators has geared up its promotions to meet the demand.

They have announced that there will be extra prize money available of £150 000 and this amount is creating an extra opportunity for 10 000 winners a day on the Gala Bingo Website. It has also been estimated that 130,000 winners per week will benefit from this extra prize money and as a result of the new bingo games on offer.

In the Gala bingo “winnathon” that is played between 10:00 GMT and midnight, every player who has only one number left on their card to win, will be credited with £1 after the full house has been called. This does have some terms and conditions applied though as cashing in with one to go wins will be limited to one per day.

The “High five” game is still in play and the site has advertised progressives will literally grow before their eyes. It seems to me that Gal bingo is pretty jacked to capture some new business and other online bingo sites will have to make sure they can keep up!

80 Ball Bingo Comes to the UK

January 25th, 2008

UK online bingo sites are in the process of introducing the 80 ball bingo form of the game. One of the first sites to provide this new form of the game is Harrys Bingo. You may be asking yourself what is so special about 80 ball bingo? Apparently this is because the game is much faster.

The 80 ball bingo ticket consists of a sixteen square grid, four across and four down, so it has its own very unique ticket design. 80 ball bingo differs in that the games calls gives five more numbers than the 70 ball bingo version and ten less than the ninety ball version. This allows for a further five numbers to be added to the ticket, which means more exciting play.

If you have never played eighty ball bingo, perhaps you should go and take a look at Harrys Bingo and give it a whirl. Personally I haven’t had the time to look at it yet, but you can rest assured that as soon as I can, I certainly will. It is amazing how adaptable the game of bingo is, although the basic tenets of the game remain the same the game of bingo always seems to recreate itself, making for more excitement, without complicated rules or paraphernalia.

National Bingo Prize for Twenty-seven Year Old

January 11th, 2008

I have read about how the demographic for UK bingo players is changing, it has been said that more and more young people are going to the bingo and I think that this is beginning to show in the numbers of young people that are winning big prize money.

The trend for younger people to play online bingo is also it seems, applying to the land-based form of the game.

The latest winner in a line up of young women who have been going home from the bingo with small fortunes in their pockets, is a twenty-seven year old woman from Leeds. The lucky young lady was playing for the first time in two years at the Mecca Bingo Club in New York Street, Leeds. When to her surprise she called full house in 44 numbers and won the very worthwhile National bingo prize of £45,000.

She and her two friends liked to play bingo, and had enjoyed it before so on the spur of the moment decided to take a jaunt to the Mecca, where, when she won, she didn’t believe what the club was telling her. She says that she went quite red in the face on hearing the news! Her lucky friends will get to share her prize and she will definitely be spending some of it on a holiday.

Bingo in the UK Still Has Many Years of Life to Enjoy

January 4th, 2008

The owner of the Empire Bingo in Wisebach, Mr. Norman Jacobs, who is also the operator of the bingo club, is certain that bingo will still be around in the UK for many years to come. He does not concur with the nay-sayers who are predicting doom, gloom and collapse for the land based UK bingo industry.

Even though he recently sold the Hippodrome to the Petro u Brothers, he says that sale was not because of any drop in revenue or worries for the future of the land based UK bingo industry, it was purely a wise business decision as the Petrou brothers approached him and made him an offer on the Hippodrome bingo business that he could not refuse.

Originally Mr. Jacobs had planned to operate both the Empire and the Hippodrome, and had no intention of getting out of the bingo business. But the offer came along at a time when it made good business sense, he will still be operating the Empire as an independent bingo club and does not anticipate that the smoking ban, or anything else for that matter is going to affect his business for 2008. The worst of that is over and he has his loyal staff and members to thank for this.

US Bingo, is it Really the “Land of the Free?”

December 27th, 2007

UK residents love a game of bingo and the same goes for online bingo players, they have fun and have the freedom to choose to play wherever they want within reasonable boundaries.

The US have enacted law banning financial transactions between UD financial institution and online gaming operators, which effectively means that US online bingo players and gamers can only play bingo online within approved US online gaming sites.

This in effect means that the US Government “dictates” to its population, where they can spend their money online in terms of gaming activities. We have also seen this happen in some of the Scandinavian countries and the hypocrisy of it all its totally ridiculous. This is a harmless game of online bingo or poker or whatever the US audience might fancy.

But the only trading taking place is within the confines of a dictatorial law, my question is, why then are US stock market traders allowed to make financial transactions on stocks world-wide? It seems to me to be completely manipulative that certain innocent activities like online bingo, that is loved by ordinary people, must be governed by the UIGEA, which should anyone disregard, they will be committing a criminal act, while the US “fat cats” continue trading however they please.
