Pensioners Hold Bingo Night to Raise Funds
Sunday, May 18th, 2008A group of pensioners who are residents at Middi Haines Court in Highworth, held a bingo night to assist a police officer who had lost his leg in a motor bike accident. The were very fond of PC Miles who used to pop in and have a cup of tea with the elderly ladies on occasion. He lost his leg when he was riding home and had a collision with a 4 x 4. Forty Eight year old PC Miles is married with two small children and said that he was just happy to still be alive.
The elderly ladies had been helped by PC Miles in the past and they wanted to give something back. The discovered that a fund had been opened for the popular “bobby” so they got together with other residents and their friend to organize the bingo night. They had a bout forty people playing bingo at the fund raiser and managed to raise £467 to put into the Martin Miles Appeal, sending the balance in the fund up to over £4 000. Everyone attending had a wonderful bingo evening and the residents were really please with the fact that they had raised so much money.
