He is now the Governor of California and there are moves in political circles to amend the (SB 1369) online bingo bill. This bill apparently veto’s the use of electronic bingo machines, even if they are used for charitable fund raising. The California charity bingo association believes that if this bill is pushed through and enacted, then it will be devastating for all local charities. On the other hand, it will be of huge benefit to online bingo and gaming, as California will be the first state to allow these activities.

If the bill is enacted, Governor Schwarzenegger will have effectively terminated hundreds of local charities who rely on electronic bingo machines for their fund raising efforts. The California charity bingo association, has called on the Governor to veto the bill. Effectively this bill is looking at chucking out the old and ringing in the new. I actually don’t know what to think, I believe that people in the US have the right to have access to what they are terming “remote caller bingo”, but I also believe that outlawing electronic bingo machines is stupid. Why on earth expand the law in one direction and contract it completely in another?
