As a result of the struggling land based bingo industry, the Minister of Sports recently announced that land based bingo clubs will be able to have more highly lucrative slots machines in their clubs to boost income. Although this has not yet come into effect, and as we know the wheels of Government turn really slowly, we were actually wondering if the result of the announcement might have some sort of knock on effect for the online bingo industry.

It is highly unlikely that there will be a sudden rush of online bingo players streaming off their broadband connection and down to the local bingo club. The markets are similar but also different in nature. Bingo players online who enjoy slots too are hardly going to be thinking to them-selves; well I can win a bigger jackpot if I play in a land based club!

Everyone has their own reasons for enjoying online bingo, whether it is the convenience or the fact that they can smoke in the comfort of their own home. Online bingo is on the increase in popularity, and this is not because ₤500 jackpot slot machines were taken out of land based clubs, so it really should have no affect on online bingo is these machines are brought back into live bingo clubs. In any case, even if it did, the online bingo industry is highly innovative in nature; they would always have something bigger and better to offer up their sleeves.
